Leigh Williams of Overland Park just recently joined the ranks of the uninsured. Williams, 25, worked six years serving food at an Italian restaurant, but rheumatoid arthritis made it too painful for her to lift heavy plates heaped with pasta. When she quit her job she lost her health insurance. Now she can't afford to see her regular doctor or pay for her medications.

3 Month Favorability Trends: McCain Continues Upward

On June 4, 2008, John McCain's total favorable rating was 53% and Obama's 55%. On July 7th it was 54%/56% Obama leading. August 7th, it was 56% McCain, 54% Obama. Today, 8/26, shows McCain viewed favorably by 57% and Obama sliding to 53%, in spite of being in the middle of his convention, where historically all candidates have tracked upward.

A few months ago, when Rhiannon Agostinho tried looking for a group on Facebook where she could chat with people about the CBC and its happenings, she came up empty. So she started her own. Today, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation group is one of many of Facebook groups where thousands of fans gather. Rhiannon, an editor at CBC Newsworld, says the group was originally meant for CBC employes, but “Since then, other people have joined and given feedback which is great; I want more of that.”
